After Friday Night Live, Cloverdale's Music Moves to the Gallery

October 8, 2026

"The people behind Friday Night Live are excited to launch our first full season of Thursday Night Dead!" That line is on the ticket page for an October 8 show at the Cloverdale Arts Alliance gallery. It's an easy one to scroll past. It also explains where the summer went.

The last Friday Night Live of 2026 was September 4. The Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band headlined, the Plaza street fair opened at 6 p.m. and music ran from 7 to 9:30. Five weeks later the same organizers have a house band, a monthly slot and an eight-month season at 204 N. Cloverdale Blvd. The gallery now has four recurring series. Each one follows a fixed weekday rule from October through May, so you can predict most of Cloverdale's winter music from a wall calendar.

The four-slot month

The Arts Alliance gallery hosts these series on these slots every month, October through May:

  1. First Thursday: THE Jazz Club. The 2026–27 season opened October 1 with Spike Sikes and The Get Real Gone. The show sold out.
  2. Second Thursday: Thursday Night Dead. This is an acoustic Grateful Dead series with The Might As Well Band.
  3. Second Saturday: Blues Night. The long-running house band, The Blue Lights, plays for a $5 donation at the door.
  4. Third Thursday: Americana Night. The Alliance calls it one of its signature programs. Shows are in the gallery and feature touring and regional roots acts.

That adds up to three Thursdays and one Saturday a month for eight months. Only the fourth Thursday is open. The summer series ran outdoors on Fridays for a single season, while this schedule runs indoors for most of the year.

One tip for planning: the Alliance's series pages still carry banners from last year, including an Americana "returns October 16" date that belongs to 2025. Use the individual event pages on the Arts Alliance events calendar for 2026 dates.

Thursday Night Dead is the clearest link to the Plaza

Of the four series, Thursday Night Dead is the one that came straight from Friday Night Live. The ticket page says the Friday Night Live team runs it, and calls 2026–27 its first full season. The Might As Well Band's lineup is all local musicians: Steve Pile, Jay Wilcox, Matt Petruska, Sam Betty and Rhyne Erde.

The format keeps a bit of the street fair. Advance seated tickets are $30 plus fees. Dance-floor-only tickets are $20 plus fees. Doors open at 7 p.m. and music starts at 7:30. Offering a cheaper ticket for people who plan to stand and dance makes this the most Plaza-like night in the gallery's month.

Ticket prices run from $5 to $37.25

Prices differ a lot from series to series, and they show what kind of night each one is:

  • Blues Night: $5 donation at the door, no advance ticket needed. The Alliance's Blues Night page says the room is routinely full and the dance floor packed.
  • Thursday Night Dead: $20 for the dance floor or $30 seated, plus fees.
  • Americana Night: The October 15 opener checkout lists $30 for Arts Alliance members and $35 for everyone else, plus a $2.25 fee. That comes to $32.25 and $37.25.
  • THE Jazz Club: The opener sold out before a price ever showed up in our research.

Members save $5 on every Americana ticket, and that series runs eight months. The Jazz Club opener sold out by its October 1 show date, so waiting until the week of a show is risky.

October, date by date

October is the first month all four series run, and it stacks up quickly:

  • Through November 8: "Solace," the current gallery show, featuring resident artist Laura Paine Carr and guest artist Rose Easterbrook.
  • Thursday, October 8: Thursday Night Dead, 7 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 10: The Rotary Club's 18th annual Asti Tour de Vine in the morning. Ride options run from 25 kilometers to 100 miles, and lunch is at the Citrus Fairgrounds. That evening, the Alliance holds a John Prine Birthday Celebration at La Familia Sana, 439 N. Cloverdale Blvd., from 6:30 to 10 p.m. David Luning, Sam Chase, John Courage and Sarah Ryan headline. Blues Night runs back at the gallery from 7 to 9:30.
  • Thursday, October 15: Americana Night opens its 2026–27 season with a Dolly Parton tribute by local women artists. Doors at 7, music at 7:30.
  • Saturday, October 17: "A Night at Studio 54: A Disco in the Vines," the Alliance's annual fundraiser gala, 5 to 10 p.m. at Trione Vineyards & Winery, 19550 Geyserville Ave. in Geyserville.
  • October 23 to 25: The Cloverdale Performing Arts Center puts on its Cloverdale Cabaret Halloween Special at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are $40 presale, $45 at the door or $50 VIP.
  • Friday, October 30: The Chamber's Downtown Trick-or-Treat, 4 to 6 p.m., based at 126 N. Cloverdale Blvd.

October 10 is the busiest day on the list. The Alliance has two shows that night, both on North Cloverdale Boulevard, starting half an hour apart. Pick one when you buy tickets.

Dinner within a few blocks of the gallery

Most of these shows start at 7:30, which leaves time for dinner first. Several restaurants are close to 204 N. Cloverdale Blvd.

Cloverdale Supper Club is a short walk north at 240 N. Cloverdale Blvd., inside the Cloverdale House Inn. Sonoma Magazine described it as Sinatra-era, with steaks, seafood and classic martinis, and listed its grand opening as April 11. As of September, the inn's site says it is newly remodeled and open for business, and lists food and drinks at the Supper Club. This fall is its first indoor music season within walking distance of the gallery.

Pick's Roadside is at 117 S. Cloverdale Blvd. SFGATE reported that it reopened January 10 after a yearlong remodel, under new ownership and with a refreshed menu. The hours SFGATE published in February had Pick's closing at 7 p.m. every day. If those hours still hold, an early burger works before a 7:30 downbeat, but check before you go. Its own site now reads "Pick's is Back, for Good."

The Arts Alliance's own local guide lists these nearby spots:

  • The Beet, 162 N. Cloverdale Blvd., seasonal California cuisine
  • La Tequila Mexican Restaurant, 134 N. Cloverdale Blvd.
  • Papa's Pizza Cafe, 105 N. Cloverdale Blvd., pizza, pasta and hot sandwiches
  • Wolf House Brewing, 131 E. First St., pub fare

Three of the four are on the same stretch of North Cloverdale Boulevard as the gallery, so an early dinner and a 7 p.m. door time fit in the same evening.

November and December, from the calendar

The Alliance hasn't posted individual November or December series pages yet. The fixed weekday rules still let you sketch both months. October 1 fell on a Thursday, so November's slots work out to Jazz on the 5th, Thursday Night Dead on the 12th, Blues on Saturday the 14th and Americana on the 19th. December's would be the 3rd, 10th, 12th and 17th. Treat these as the series' rules applied to the calendar. They aren't announced dates.

One outside listing fits the pattern. Bandsintown shows Caltucky at the Arts Alliance on Thursday, November 19, which is a third Thursday. The Alliance hasn't posted a matching page, so it isn't confirmed.

Saturday, November 14 shapes up as the next crowded day. The Citrus Fair's 7th Annual Holiday Craft Faire runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free admission. CPAC's "The Business of Murder" has a 7:30 p.m. show that night as part of its November 13–22 run. If the pattern holds, Blues Night would fall that same evening. In December, CPAC stages "Winnie-The Pooh A Christmas Tail" on December 11 to 13, with Storytime with Mrs. Claus and a visit from Santa.

Two things haven't been announced. The Chamber's calendar doesn't list a 2026 Winter Festival date yet, and its existing Winter Festival page covers December 2025. The Citrus Fair's Saturday Night Comedy Show is marked postponed, with no new date.

The gallery's series run through May, and the next ticketed show on the calendar is Thursday Night Dead on October 8.

Once you know the second Thursdays by heart, maybe you've started picturing a place close enough to walk home after the encore. Or maybe you're wondering what your own home within a few blocks of the Boulevard is worth. Either way, Jennifer Klein knows Cloverdale's downtown streets and would be glad to talk it through.
